On Christmas night, a woman once came into the farmhouse living room in Miðdalur; she walked up to a candle burning on the table and stared at it for a long time and earnestly, until someone told her that she could have the candle and take it with her. The woman did so and then vanished.

Á jóla nóttina kom einu sinni kona inn í baðstofu í Miðdal; hún gekk að kertaljósi, sem logaði á borðinu, og horfði á það leingi og alvarlega, uns einhver sagði við hana, að hún mætti eiga kertið og fara með það. Konan gjörði það og hvarf síðan.
