This course is for anyone looking to improve their communication in Swedish. Here are some useful materials to help you prepare for the class.

Vecka 1 Inledning
Första vecka läser du grundläggande om hur meningar byggs upp. Du får också lära dig skillnaden mellan en huvudsats och en bisats.
During the first week, you will study basics about how Swedish sentences are structured. You will also learn the difference between a main clause and a subordinate clause.
Vecka 2 Satser
Här fördjupar vi oss i ordföljd och hur verb placeras i olika satstyper, såsom påståenden, frågor och uppmaningar. Kapitlet tar upp hur man kopplar ihop flera verb och hur språket uttrycker pågående eller avslutade handlingar.
Here we dive deeper into word order and how the verb is positioned in different clause types, such as statements, questions, or a call. The chapter also covers combining multiple verbs and how the language expresses ongoing or completed actions.
Vecka 3 Subjekt
Detta kapitel fokuserar på subjektets roll. Du får lära dig hur olika ordklasser kan fungera som subjekt, hur man använder "det" och "man", samt hur man tappar subjektet i en mening.
This chapter focuses on the important role of the subject in Swedish. You will learn how different parts of speech can function as a subject, how to use 'det' (it) and 'man' (one/you), as well as how and when the subject is omitted in a sentence.
Vecka 4 & 5 Huvudsatser
Vi studerar hur man bygger huvudsatser och får rätt ordföljd. Du lär dig hur man placerar ord för tid och plats, hur man använder småord, samt hur man binder ihop meningar på ett smidigt sätt.
We will study how to construct common main clauses and get the correct word order. You will learn how to place words for time and place, how to use small words, and how to connect sentences smoothly.
Vecka 6 & 7 Bisatser
Vi studerar hur man bygger bisatser och får till rätt ordföljd med småord. Du lär dig att uttrycka villkor, önskningar och mål, samt hur man förklarar orsaker och resultat.
We will study how to build subordinate clauses and get the correct word order with small words. You will also learn how to express conditions, wishes, and goals, as well as how to explain causes and results.
Vecka 8 Tid
Detta kapitel visar hur du uttrycker tid på olika sätt. Du får öva på prepositioner och lära dig att välja rätt tempus baserat på om du utgår från nuet eller dåtid.
This chapter shows you how to express time in different ways. You will practice prepositions and learn to choose the correct tense based on your time period.
Vecka 9 Frågor, Jämförelse, och Förkortning
Här lär du dig att bygga både direkta / indirekta frågor, och hur man svarar på dem. Kapitlet behandlar även hur man gör jämförelser, samt hur man förkortar och förenklar meningar.
Here you will learn how to construct both direct and indirect questions, as well as how to answer those questions. The chapter also covers how to make comparisons, and how to simplify your sentences and make it clear.
Vecka 10 Olika Verb
Vi studerar olika viktiga och vanliga verb i det här kapitlet. Du får också lära dig hur hjälpverb fungerar tillsammans med infinitiv, samt när ordet "att" måste användas eller inte.
We will study various important and useful verbs in this chapter. You will also learn how verbs work together, and when the word 'att' must or must not be used.
Vecka 11 Substantiv
I detta kapitel går vi igenom substantivens former, skillnaden mellan räknebara och oräknebara ord, och när man ska använda obestämd / bestämd form. Du får öva på hur adjektiv och substantiv böjs tillsammans.
In this chapter, we go over noun forms, the difference between countable and uncountable words, and when to use the indefinite / definite form. You will practice how adjectives and nouns are inflected together.
Vecka 12 Adjektiv och Adverb
I sista kapitlet reder vi ut skillnaden mellan adjektiv (som beskriver saker) och adverb (som beskriver handlingar eller egenskaper). Du får också lära dig hur dessa ord kompareras i komparativ och superlativ.
In the last chapter, we untangle the difference between adjectives and adverbs and how to use them to enrich your expression. You will also learn how these words are compared in different degrees.
